What
is Reiki?
Reiki
(pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese word consisting of two characters
"Rei" and "Ki".
Ki is known
under different names in many cultures, for instance Chi in Chinese
and Prana in Hindi.
Rei
– is Japanese for Universal
Ki
– is Japanese for Life force Energy
Reiki
translates as Universal Life Force Energy.
Reiki is a specific
healing support system, divided into three levels, which have been
passed along from Reiki Master to student for the past hundred years
since its rediscovery by Sensei Mikao Usui.
The principle of
Reiki healing / treatment is that the practitioner functions as a
channel for the Reiki energy. Being open to conduct the Reiki
energy, the practitioner is able to transmit the energy to the
receiver/ client. It is important to understand that the healing
doesn’t come from the practitioner’s personal energy, the
practitioner is a channel for the universal energy. The client is
the one who attracts the energy the practitioner’s energy stays with
them.
A treatment can
last a few minutes to over an hour depending on the clients needs.
Practitioners which charge for Reiki usually have sessions for 45
minutes to 1 hour as they usually charge by the hour for their time.
